You may be able to buy the home you live in through the Right to Buy or Right to Acquire schemes.
You may be able to buy the home you live in, at a discount, through the government’s Right to Buy or Right to Acquire schemes. This will depend on your tenancy and the type of property you live in.
Right to Buy
The Right to Buy scheme allows some tenants to buy their home at a reduced price.
Eligibility
You may be able to buy your home through the Right to Buy scheme if:
- it was previously owned by the local authority before being transferred to us
- it's your only or main home
- it's self-contained (you don't share any rooms with people outside your household)
- you've been a social housing tenant for over three years
You cannot apply if:
- you live in sheltered housing or housing specifically for older or disabled people
- you have any legal problems with debt
- you have any possession orders against you because you breached your tenancy agreement
- your home is due for demolition

Right to Acquire
The Right to Acquire scheme enables social housing tenants to buy their home from their landlord at a discount.
Eligibility
You may be able to buy your home through the Right to Acquire scheme if:
- it was built or bought by GreenSquareAccord after 31 March 1997 and funded through a social housing grant provided by the Housing Corporation or local council, or transferred from a local council to GreenSquareAccord after 31 March 1997
- it's your only or main home
- it's self-contained (you don't share any rooms with people outside your household)
You cannot apply if:
- you live in sheltered housing or housing specifically for older or disabled people
- you're being made bankrupt
- you have any possession orders against you because you breached your tenancy agreement
- your home is due for demolition
- you're eligible for the Right to Buy scheme
