Showell Court colleagues take on a virtual walk from Land’s End to John o’ Groats
On Tuesday 31 October, a group of colleagues from Showell Court embarked on their challenge of a virtual sponsored walk from Land’s End to John o’ Groats.
Showell Court is our extra care service in Wolverhampton which has a care and support team available 24 hours a day.
The team have taken up the challenge as a team building exercise that will also help them raise money for Promise Dreams, a national charity delivering dreams for seriously and terminally ill children - putting a smile on their faces, giving their families the chance to make lasting memories, or making daily life a little bit easier.
The distance they will be collectively walking is 980 miles (1576km) which works out at roughly 2,280,000 steps. The team will monitor their steps throughout their shifts at Showell Court and will log them daily, with the aim for them completing their virtual walk from Land’s End to John o’ Groats in one week.
Gayna Miles our Health and Wellbeing colleague at Showell House who has been organising this event alongside Michelle Linton our PA at Showell House, says:
“We are all really excited about our fundraising challenge here at Showell Court.
“We thought it would be a great team building exercise as a real mix of colleagues are getting involved including our Bistro colleagues and Domestic colleagues. Also, Promise Dreams is a local charity that does wonderful work with seriously ill children and their families, which is something close to a number of our colleagues’ hearts.
“Our colleagues do a lot of steps on a daily basis as we are a very large scheme here at Showell Court, so this shouldn’t take us more than a week to complete – fingers crossed!
“It would be lovely to raise as much money as we can for this amazing charity, so please donate to our JustGiving page if you can.”
If you’d like to show your support for the team taking part, you can make a donation to their JustGiving page here.
