We held our first council drop-in session in Walsall this week.
GSA colleagues set up at Walsall Council House on Monday (3 November) to meet local councillors ahead of their full council meeting.
The event is part of our work to strengthen our relationships with our local authority partners. It gave councillors the opportunity to find out more about our organisation, ask questions, raise concerns and meet colleagues who work with our customers living in their area. Attendees at the drop-in session included the leader, leaders of opposition groups and backbench councillors.
David Loon, our Head of Localities who represented us at the event, said: “Building strong relationships with elected representatives is a priority for us and this was a great opportunity to do this. It was a chance for us to listen to concerns, answer questions and talk openly about our work.”
Theresa Jones, our Locality Manager who also attended, said: “A range of topics were broached by councillors from issues impacting individual households to wider concerns such as how social homes are allocated in the borough. This was a great opportunity to engage with Walsall councillors and receive feedback directly from our valued partners.”
Steve Hayes, our Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications, said: “As anchor institutions in our communities it is important we maintain strong relationships with our partners. This is the latest in a series of actions we are taking to strengthen our relationships with our stakeholders.
“Following this successful event, we will be working alongside our Locality Team colleagues to host similar sessions across our localities in the coming months.”
