Our Community Impact Fund supports Northway Together Community Interest Company (CIC)
We are thrilled to share our collaboration with Northway Together Community Interest Company (CIC) through our Community Impact Fund.
Northway Together is a local initiative bringing people together to design, develop and deliver programmes that support all of us to thrive. They aim to empower all members of the community, both collectively and individually, by creating safe spaces to talk about and address any issues they face.
Drawing on the skills of local volunteers, they have launched a community garden, art club and café. Northway Together also deliver weekly food parcels in the Northway area and organised a summer day trip.
Our Community Impact Fund is an initiative designed to support customer groups, local charities, voluntary and community groups and organisations operating within our service areas. Through the fund we offer grants of up to £1,000 to projects that benefit our customers and the communities we work in.
Earlier this year, we awarded Northway Together Community Interest Company (CIC) a grant of £1000 through our Community Impact Fund. This funding will support Northway Together’ community kitchen serving residents hot meals using locally grown, surplus and bought-in produce.
The Northway Together Community kitchen was initially set up alongside Marston Community Gardening and has grown into a successful scheme feeding at least 40 residents and their families each week.
Andrew Patching from the Northway Together Community said: “Our thanks go to GreenSquareAccord for supporting our work and community here in Northway. It means a great deal to us all to know that we can continue our community kitchen and cafe project into the future. Regardless of the stormy weather outside, there will still be a warm welcome, a sharing atmosphere and a hot meal here for everyone as this season ends!"
Sian Every, Community and Investment and Social Value Lead, added: “It is a real pleasure to announce that GSA have awarded a grant of £1000 to Northway Together CIC which amounts to six weeks’ worth of running costs for their community café scheme.
“The kitchen is a vibrant setting which welcomes residents from differing backgrounds and age groups by serving up delicious dishes from across the globe.
“As well as providing hot meals to Northway locals, the scheme also offers onsite training opportunities for those wishing to advance their skills and qualifications.”
