Bringing together community groups, service users, local councillors and other key stakeholders, The Hall Green Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS) recently hosted its first-ever celebration event.
Hall Green NNS is a project to support people aged 50+ and adults aged 18-49 with a long-term disability from needing to access social or health care by connecting them to the right activities or services in their local communities.
The 50+ strand focuses on ensuring there are doorstep coproduced services funding in the community to keep citizens happy, healthy and in their own homes for longer, living independently to alleviate the pressures on Adults Social Care and NHS.
The younger adults stream has been delivered since 2022 with a focus on accessible services and activities for citizens with any disabilities, learning difficulties or mental health.
The celebration event, held recently, showcased the incredible work of grassroots initiatives that have tackled social isolation, supported older adults, and brought together younger adults with learning difficulties through art, culture, and shared experiences.
Thieba Bibi, our Project Manager at Hall Green NNS, said: “This celebration was all about highlighting the amazing work happening right here in our community.
“It was a chance to honour the passion and dedication of those who work every day to support our citizens and to connect with others who share a vision for a thriving, inclusive Hall Green.”
Attendees at the celebration also heard about the success of Hall Green NNS’s small Grants Programme in 2024-25 including:
- Awarding grants to 13 projects with a total value of £148,762.
- Six of the supported projects are aimed at older adults with a total spend of
£93,448. - The other seven funded projects are aimed at both older adults and younger
adults with a long-term disability with a total spend of £55,314.
Hall Green NNS have been leading the grants programmes, capacity building and developed a ABCD approach through communities across Hall Green Constituency since 2017.
The project has been funded by Birmingham City Council since 2019. In February 2022 GreenSquareAccord was awarded the contract to continue leading the Hall Green NNS until 2027.
Nicole Beeching, Director of Care and Support said: “What a fantastic celebration, I felt really proud of the team and the work they do to support our most vulnerable communities.
“At the event, it was great to speak to some of the organisations that have received funding through the NNS and listen to the guest speakers.”
A special highlight of the evening was the exclusive premiere of the Hall Green NNS Impact Video, showcasing the transformative work of local projects and the lives they have touched.
