Spring clean-up event success
As part of the Keep Britain Tidy Great British Spring Clean, we held a Spring clean-up and rubbish amnesty in some of our communities last week (Monday 18 – Friday 24 March 2024).
We provided skips for customers to get rid of any unwanted items from their homes or gardens and we also had a team of colleagues out doing litter picks every day in each of the communities we visited.
The areas we focused on were, Orchard House in Corsham, Westcroft and Wessex Road in Chippenham, The Knapp and Dixon Way in Calne, Princess Gardens in Royal Wootton Bassett and Moorlands in Chippenham.
Our Locality Manager Ali Owens who organised the events said: “The clean-up week went really well, we had a good turnout of customers at each event, some needed the physical help of carrying larger items, but some were happy to bring their unwanted items to the skips themselves and have a chat with us whilst they did it.
“We filled three 20-yard skips and seven 12-yard skips over the week which is the equivalent of 1,500 black bin bags in capacity.
“We had lots of messages of thanks from customers at each event, especially those who were not able to do it themselves.
“Our housing officers are committed to getting to know their patches and their customers and events like this really help to improve the relationship between GSA and our tenants as well as bringing the team together!”
