Colleagues working in Locality 4 arranged a ‘rubbish amnesty’ and clean-up day at one of our Wiltshire housing schemes.
On the morning of Thursday 21 August, a large skip arrived on the car park in the middle of our Sleightholme Court development in Trowbridge, Wiltshire.
With the skip provided free of charge, customers were then encouraged to responsibly dispose of any old or unwanted objects. The skip couldn’t accommodate large furniture items such as sofa, beds or white goods however customers were advised to speak to their housing officer to make separate arrangements to remove bulky waste.
Rachel Lang, our Housing Officer who spearheaded the clean-up day initiative, said: “Among our customers vehicle ownership tends to be lower than the national average and the cost of hiring a skip can be prohibitively expensive for individual households.
“In an effort to deter fly tipping and to help keep Sleighholme Court tidy, we provided a skip and organised a litter pick around the area.
“I would like to thank all colleagues who made this possible and our customers who engaged so positively with the event.”
The skip was available for customers to use between 09.30am and 16.30pm allowing plenty of time for Sleightholme Court residents to make use of the facility. Following this a colleague in locality 4 carried out an inspection of homes and gardens.
Customers were also encouraged to participate in a litter pick in the immediate vicinity of Sleightholme Court to help foster a sense of community pride.
