It’s Pride Month this month. The rainbow flags have begun to appear in our streets, workplaces, and social media feeds.
These vibrant symbols do more than mark a celebration – they serve as a powerful reminder of a long, ongoing journey. For the LGBTQ+ community, Pride is not simply a festive occasion; it is a profound act of visibility, resistance, and remembrance. For all of us, it is a call to action: to reflect, to support, and to stand together.
Last week (Saturday 23 May) GSA colleagues, Customer Panel members and friends and family joined the Birmingham Pride parade.
Sarah Mason, our Customer Panel Chair said: "What a fantastic event and thank you so much GSA for organising this. I am so pleased that GSA have joined Birmingham Pride and marched for the first time. There were thousands of people cheering everyone on and the atmosphere was full of joy and love.
“I am very proud that GSA have joined the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge and are going further with our inclusivity for all customers to ensure that they feel safe and respected in their homes and that they don't have to change a thing!”
Signing the LGBTQ+ Pledge has acted as a catalyst for strengthening how we induct our colleagues, embedding clearer, more practical EDI expectations so we consistently deliver a fairer and more inclusive experience for both our colleagues and the communities we serve.
At GSA, we work closely with the EDI Forum to ensure our policies and practices promote inclusion and fairness within the organisation.
