We’re pleased to have donated £2,000 to Wiltshire based charity, Chippenham Community Hub.
The Community Hub provides a safe, warm and welcoming environment that’s open to everyone in Chippenham, where many GSA residents live. They work in partnership with local services, signposting and helping people to access the support they need. Their aim is to improve mental health, physical wellbeing and confidence.
Our donation will specifically fund their Community Corner Coaching project, which was set up to help local adults with basic maths, IT skills, managing finances and interview coaching.
The project will run for a 12-month period with individual customers accessing tailored support for up to six weeks. Some clients will benefit from one off training sessions, while others will be supported on a one-to-one basis for the full six weeks.
Coaching staff at the Community Hub will also be able to undertake additional training to understand dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and ADHD. This will enable them to give a personal service tailored to their individual client’s needs.
Wiltshire Council previously funded a similar scheme at the Hub called the Multiply Project, which lead to increased confidence and enabled several participants to progress into employment.
Ladonna Watts, Development Manager at Chippenham Community Hub, said: “The funding has enabled us to continue helping people and giving them the confidence to improve their wellbeing and abilities.
“When the Multiply Project funding ended it was a great loss to the community as we’d helped lots of people regain confidence working with numbers and wanted to continue this valuable service.
“We are keen to help with job coaching, Maths and IT, and we’re happy to work with people on a tailored package to their personal requirements.”
The donation followed a successful application to our Community Impact Fund. The fund was created to benefit charities, community groups and projects within GSA’s localities. Grants of up to £2,000 are available per application.
Sian Every, our Community Investment and Social Value Lead, said: “I’m so pleased we could help to fund the Community Coaching Corner project which brings vital skills to local people. I look forward to hearing about the continued impact of our donation.”
