We’re thrilled to have donated £1,000 to Inspire2gether, to run a Wellbeing Chair Fitness programme for senior citizens. The classes will take place at our Ghulab Ashram sheltered scheme in Hall Green, Birmingham.

Our donation will fund free, hour-long classes over 28 weeks, for up to 30 GSA customers living at Ghulab Ashram and Kalyan Ashram.
Inspire2gether has run Wellbeing Chair Fitness sessions at Ghulab Ashram in the past, which received overwhelmingly positive feedback from both the management and participants. The sessions were immensely effective in improving fitness, enhancing movement, and building a community, which in turn helped to reduce isolation among seniors.
The funding will enable Inspire2Gether to continue delivering the classes for free and purchase workout equipment, ensuring sustainability and long-term impact for our customers.

This activity programme has been co-produced in collaboration with GSA residents, ensuring that the sessions are tailored to their needs and preferences. The routines are set to music from the 1940s and 50s to boost morale and stimulate memory.
Mohammed Imran, Director at Inspire2Gether, said: “The ultimate goal is to create a ripple effect of positivity and empowerment, where seniors feel more connected, physically active, and emotionally supported.
“Maintaining physical health, mobility and strength is hugely beneficial in later life, decreasing the chances of falls, accidents and loss of independence.
“Older people can also be especially susceptible to loneliness, so community groups that create a sense of belonging and foster friendships are crucial for mental wellbeing.”

The £1,000 donation was made possible by our Community Impact Fund, which is designed to support charities and voluntary groups across our localities. Up to £2,000 is now available per project to help local communities.
Sian Every, our Community Investment and Social Lead, said: “I’m delighted we could support Inspire2Gether’s work with our funding.
“They have worked closely with our Hall Green Neighbourhood Network Scheme (NNS) team who have highly praised the impact of previous classes on our older residents. I look forward to hearing about the difference regular sessions will make.”
