Our Repairs Operations Manager, Daniel Cox, joined GSA seven years ago as a Multi Trade Apprentice.
He started his apprenticeship in 2018, progressing to Kitchen and Bathroom Fitter, Voids Operative and Major Works Operative doing emergency callouts.
Earlier this year, Daniel achieved a well-deserved promotion to Repairs Operations Manager for Locality 2.
Daniel said: “During my time at GSA, I’ve learnt it's not about getting things right the first time, it’s about how you turn it into a learning experience. I’ve gained many valuable skills on a wide range of topics, and I wouldn’t be in the position I am today without the support of my colleagues, who I’m so thankful for.
“I’ll always remember the day I was given the opportunity to temporarily assist as the supervisor on the planned kitchen upgrade at Holly House. This gave me a clear insight into my next steps within my career and helped me to determine that a leadership role was my aim.
“I’d like to thank GSA for all the opportunities given to me and if you’re thinking the apprenticeship route might be for you, I would advise that success is not given but earnt through hard work and determination. Always give your best and accept help or advice, every day is a learning day and embrace it because it can lead to a rewarding career.”
During his seven-year career with GSA, Daniel has gained a wealth of experience in fitting, plumbing and carpentry work. He’s also worked on planned projects, voids and out of hours callouts. His managers recognised his potential early on and were impressed by how quickly he developed the knowledge to succeed and become a reliable member of the team.
Stuart Jones, Interim Head of Repairs at GSA, said: “Dan has always demonstrated a commitment to improvement and cares deeply about every job he has undertaken.
“His ability to consistently get the job done has been instrumental in his promotion, which is an outstanding achievement.
“I’m confident that Dan’s addition to our management team will further enhance our performance, elevate standards and improve the delivery of our services.
“Dan’s success shows that with the right training and dedication; colleagues of any age can work towards and achieve their professional goals. Well done Dan. You’ve earned this!”
