Earlier this week, colleagues in our Development team did not come away from the Insider Midlands Residential Property Awards ceremony empty handed.

Mary Doria, Project Manager, and Carl Taylor, Assistant Director of Growth and New Business, who represented GSA at the ceremony, proudly accepted the Social Impact Award alongside Morro Partnerships and Sandwell Council.

Judges at the Insider Midlands Residential Property Awards were impressed by our efforts to engage and support the wider community surrounding the Swan Lane development by:

  • Providing a guided tour of the scheme to 60 learners from Ryders Green Primary School
  • Delivering a garden transformation at our care scheme Chapter House in West Bromwich
  • Providing work experience placements completed in February 2025
  • Supporting Litter Watch Tipton
  • Donating mugs to Smethwick Library and Sandwell youth hub.

Our Swan Lane development saw off tough competition for the Social Impact Award, from the Thorn Close Regeneration Project, Wednesbury (SWG Construction, Sandwell Council) and Farnborough Road, Clifton (NCHA, Pelham Architects).

Mary Doria, our Project Manager, said: “It is such an honour to accept the Social Impact Award, alongside our delivery partners, on behalf of my colleagues. It feels great to be recognised by our peers at the Insider Midlands Residential Property Awards.

“Not only will our Swan Lane development deliver much needed affordable homes in West Bromwich we are also delivering benefits for the wider community through outreach initiatives.”

Once complete, the Swan Lane development will provide a total of 147 homes. Our homes at Swan Lane will meet a variety of local housing need by providing 41 two- and 24 three-bedroom houses and 17 one- and 65 two-bedroom apartments on the site of a former gas works.

A spokesperson from Morro Partnerships said: “We’re thrilled to have won the Social Impact Award for our Gas Works / Swan Lane development in West Bromwich!

“A huge thanks to GSA and Sandwell Council for sharing our commitment to meaningful community initiatives.

“Congratulations to all the winners and nominees! Great to see such a range of inspiring projects and dedicated teams recognised.”
