We've successfully completed energy efficiency upgrades to 273 customers' homes, with two more retrofit schemes now in the pipeline.
Since March 2023, we have improved the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings of more than 270 social homes across the West Midlands and Wiltshire through a variety of decarbonisation and retrofit measures, including:
- Installing cavity wall and external wall insulation
- Draught-proofing or replacing windows and doors
- Improving loft insulation
- Fitting low-energy lighting
- Taking steps to improve ventilation.
As part of the scheme, we have also installed:
- 163 air source heat pump heating systems
- 39 rooftop solar panel systems.
The works have been delivered using funding secured from central government through a joint bid submitted by the Matrix Housing Partnership.
Fran Sargeant, our Head of Programme Management and Surveying, said:
"We're proud to recognise the outstanding achievement of our Retrofit Team in successfully delivering upgrades to 273 homes. This represents a significant milestone and reflects a tremendous amount of dedication, coordination and technical expertise.
"Retrofit projects are inherently complex, often involving work in occupied homes, evolving specifications, and the need to balance energy performance improvements with resident comfort and safety. Despite these challenges, the team has consistently demonstrated professionalism, adaptability and a strong commitment to quality.
"Their ability to navigate these complexities while maintaining programme delivery is a testament to their skill and collaborative approach. The result is not only improved homes for our residents, but also a meaningful contribution towards our wider sustainability and energy efficiency goals.
"A huge well done to everyone involved in making this such a successful project."
Two new projects are now underway and will benefit customers living across all our areas of operation.
Working with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), we have secured part-funding to improve the energy efficiency of 917 homes across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Swindon. We have appointed two contractors, Bell and Novus, to carry out the retrofit works on our behalf.
We have also been awarded funding by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) to deliver energy efficiency upgrades to 508 customers' homes in Birmingham and the Black Country.
