Construction commences on sixty new affordable homes on former RAF site

Airfield House

Construction is now underway on our affordable homes scheme, known as Airfield House, which will help transform a former RAF site in Warwickshire.

We will deliver 60 new affordable homes through a partnership between Vistry recognised as the UK’s leading mixed-tenure affordable housing developer.

The Airfield House development, located in Long Marston, will help to meet a variety of local housing need by providing 25 homes for affordable rent and 13 homes for social rent with the remaining 22 homes available under a shared ownership scheme.

Sue Carpenter, our Senior Regeneration Officer said: “We are delighted to be working in conjunction with Vistry to deliver 60 much-needed affordable homes close to Stratford-upon-Avon.

“It is great to see spades in the ground and progress being made on site which is testament to a lot of hard work by GSA colleagues and our partners.

“We are proud to not only provide homes for affordable and social rent but also to be able to offer low-cost home ownership opportunities to those that might otherwise be priced out of the market.”

The new homes at Airfield House will comprise one and two-bedroom apartments and maisonettes alongside two, three and four-bedroom houses.

Adam Sharpe, Managing Director for Vistry South West Midlands, said: “The start of construction is always a major milestone as we see the plans we’ve worked hard on with our partners start to become a reality. It’s great to be working with GSA on this site that will ultimately provide a wide range of new, high-quality affordable homes for the local area.”

As well as helping to deliver affordable homes in Long Marston, Vistry is investing heavily in the local community with a commitment to provide over £600,000 to bolster local services including money for education, healthcare and highways.

Located just a 10-minute drive away from the historic centre of Stratford-upon-Avon, our Airfield House development is also in easy distance of Warwick, Birmingham and the Cotswolds.

The first homes available for purchase under a shared ownership scheme at Airfield House will be on the market by Spring 2025.
