The first new homes completed on the former site of a Church, will soon be occupied by local Redditch families, with keys being handed over in September.

Our scheme in Winyates is known as St Gregory’s, in recognition of the Catholic church which once stood on the site and closed its doors in 2005.

Chris Bloore, MP for Redditch, welcomed our St Gregory’s scheme shortly after his election in 2024 and has closely followed its progress ever since.

Commenting on a return visit to our development, Chris Bloore MP said:

“I am delighted to see the first new homes completed at St Gregory’s in Winyates. This development transforms the former St Gregory’s Church site into a residential community, delivering homes for social rent and shared ownership.

“I am particularly pleased that these homes provide secure, energy-efficient housing that tackles local demand and helps families from Redditch Borough Council’s housing waiting list. Providing quality affordable housing remains a priority. I thank GreenSquareAccord, Redditch Borough Council and everyone involved for regenerating this site and helping residents secure stable homes. This is a positive step for Winyates, Redditch and our community.”

Six homes have been completed, with the first families, drawn from Redditch Borough Council’s housing waiting list, set to move in within weeks.

Ward Councillor Jen Snape said: “Like many residents of Winyates, I have watched the progress of this site with interest as the properties have started to take shape. I was delighted to be given the opportunity to take a tour of the site and see a few of the finished homes, ready for Redditch residents to move in. They are really lovely, high-quality family homes, which we desperately need in Redditch, and are perfect for young families to put down roots in our fantastic community in Winyates.”

Once complete, the St Gregory’s development will deliver 13 homes for social rent, while 12 properties will be made available through a shared ownership scheme.

Lorna Wheeler, Our Sales Consultant at GSA, said: “As locals have noticed construction progress at our new development in Winyates, we have received a lot of interest in the shared ownership properties.

“It is easy to see why, as the development is located just three miles from Redditch town centre, has excellent road links to the M42 and sits within walking distance of Arrow Valley Country Park.

“Our homes at St Gregory’s are ideal for first-time buyers, with shares between 10 and 75 per cent available. You can buy more shares through a process called staircasing until you own your home outright. This is a fantastic alternative to private renting and a great gateway to owning your own home.”

Our new energy-efficient properties in Winyates, available through a low-cost homeownership scheme, are well appointed, with vinyl flooring in the kitchen and bathroom, an integrated oven and hob, and an EV charging point.

We are also leading a £35 million regeneration scheme near Redditch town centre. The project is transforming disused industrial sites and a former social club into a thriving community of 175 affordable homes near the town’s railway station.

The fourth and final phase of GSA’s regeneration scheme, known as Clive Works, will see 72 social homes built on land where a needle factory once stood. Construction commenced at the Clive Works development earlier this year.
