The first customers have moved into our affordable homes at Airfield House in Long Marston, Warwickshire, just in time for Christmas.

The development, led by Vistry, is built on a former RAF field, with 60 new affordable homes provided by GSA.

The Mcdonald family recently collected the keys to their new home on the Airfield House development. Louis Mcdonald, a GSA customer, said: “We are delighted with our new home and grateful to GSA for all their support with the handover.

“We are looking forward to our first Christmas here which we are sure will be one to remember.”

The Airfield House development will help to meet a variety of local housing need by providing 25 homes for affordable rent, a further 13 for social rent with the remaining 22 properties available under a shared ownership scheme.

Sue Carpenter, our Senior Regeneration Officer, said: “It is wonderful to be welcoming our first customers to Airfield House in plenty of time for Santa to find them at their new addresses. We will be handing over the keys to the rest of the homes in the first part of 2026.

“We are proud to not only provide homes for affordable and social rent but also low-cost home ownership opportunities to those that might otherwise be priced out of the market.”

Alongside helping to deliver affordable housing, Vistry have committed to investing £600,000 into the local community of Long Marston, in order to improve local services such as providing money for education, healthcare and highways.

District Councillor Stuart Keighley, who represents Long Marston, said: "It is really good to see these 60 affordable homes built quickly to help satisfy the great housing need in the District.

“When the outline permission was granted in 2021 there were a significant number of families on the housing waiting list, and although detailed matters were not permitted until February 2024, the speed with which the development has taken shape is impressive.

“With so much more planned to make the old Airfield site a great place to live, I'm confident that families moving in will enjoy the location, community amenities and open spaces. It's the best of both worlds, being on the doorstep of the Cotswolds National Landscape and just a stone's throw from the beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon".
