First residents set to move into affordable homes in Great Somerford
The first residents are set to collect the keys for their new homes in the idyllic rural location of Great Somerford, Wiltshire.
As part of the larger Broadfield development built by Backhouse, we are providing a total of eight new affordable homes with three available for shared ownership and the remainder earmarked for affordable rent. The development includes one-bed maisonettes alongside two- and three-bedroom houses.
Although located in the picturesque Wiltshire countryside, the Broadfield development is well connected with Chippenham only a short seven-mile car journey away and Junction 17 of the M4 Motorway even closer at hand.
Our Head of Development Peter Crouch said: “We are proud to be providing the affordable element of the Broadfield development which will help to meet a variety of local housing need. Our new homes have been completed to a high spec internally with the exteriors sympathetically designed to blend in with the listed buildings in Great Somerford.
“New residents can enjoy the tranquillity of country life whilst being within easy reach of facilities in Swindon, Bath and Cirencester.”
Those moving into the Broadfield development will also have access to Great Somerford’s amenities including a convenience store with a post office, a friendly local pub, a primary school as well as the Free Gardens which are among the oldest allotments in England.
Managing Director at Backhouse Ian Jones said: “We are delighted to handover the first affordable homes for locals to live in at our Great Somerford development.
“Quality, well designed affordable housing is a fundamental part of our developments, and we are pleased to be working with GreenSquareAccord on this and other developments”.
All incoming residents will have complimentary outside storage, their own parking space and have a view of fields and a nearby fishing lake.
Soon to-be resident, Paige Davy said “We are delighted to be moving into our new home with plenty of time to settle in before Christmas. Great Somerford is a lovely place to live and has a strong sense of community. Our new home is well connected making it handy for commuting and not far from shops and entertainment in larger towns”.
