Working with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) we have secured part funding to improve the energy efficiency of 882 of our customer’s homes.

WECA has acted as the lead bidder for a consortium of 18 housing providers, known as the South West Net Zero Hub consortium, to the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund. The fund is administered by the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and provides support to uplift the energy performance certificate (EPC) of social homes up to a ‘C’ rating.

Earlier this year, DESNZ confirmed that the WECA-led consortium, would receive a total of £66,721,595 in grant funding to deliver retrofit works which must be completed by 30 September 2028. This government funding will be matched by local authorities and social landlords, within the South West Net Zero Hub consortium, bringing the total funding to over £130 million and delivering energy efficiency upgrades to 6,500 homes.

David Lewis, South West Hub Programme Manager, said: “We’re delighted to have led the consortium in securing this investment for the region, delivering warmer homes, lower energy bills, and reduced carbon emissions for thousands of residents. This success highlights the power of collaboration—by working together across the region, we can achieve more than we could alone.”

Drawing on the Warm Homes funding, we will now deliver energy efficiency upgrades to 882 of our homes across the South West which have the lowest EPC rating.

Andy Minton, our Retrofit Project Manager said: “Over the next three years, GSA will co-fund works which will make our customers’ homes warmer and more comfortable. Those eligible to be part of the programme will receive a package to their individual needs which may include installing new windows and doors, improving ventilation in the home and insulation works.”

All customers who are being considered for this programme will be contacted and offered a retrofit assessment of their home. Those living in properties which meet the criteria set out in the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund guidance will benefit from:

  • Reduced heating and water bills
  • A warmer and more comfortable home
  • Fewer problems with damp and mould
  • A lower carbon footprint

Our Retrofit team are currently in the process of appointing contractors to support the delivery of this project.
