Colleagues at Swallow Fields, an extra care scheme in Tipton, held a grand reopening last week for a communal space.

The event follows a major investment in the Gallery and Library at the scheme, funded through a fixed assets budget of £22,000. The Gallery, located on the third floor, has received new furniture and curtains, giving the space a fresh look and feel.

The reopening event was held in the Gallery, with customers and colleagues in attendance. A buffet was provided, alongside excellent entertainment from local crooner Stevie Best.

Sophia Riaz, our Business Support Manager, who led the refurbishment project and has worked at Swallow Fields since it opened, said:

“We are extremely pleased with the result, which has brought our vision for the rooms to life.

“We wanted to create an added ‘wow’ factor that would make the Gallery and Library feel special for everyone who uses them.

“I would like to thank all colleagues and customers who went the extra mile to make the unveiling ceremony so special.”

Customers living at the scheme were consulted about the redecoration of both rooms, with their ideas helping to shape the finished result.

Although not originally in scope, the Library Room at Swallow Fields has also been redecorated as part of the project. This was made possible through close working between colleagues at the scheme and contractor Countrywide Healthcare.

Built in 2008 beside the Birmingham Canal, Swallow Fields provides 62 two-bedroom apartments for people aged over 55. It offers a diverse range of services, from self-contained homes to tailored support and care for residents when required.
