We're providing 25 new affordable homes in Littlemore, Oxford
The first residents of our two new apartment blocks in Littlemore, containing 25 affordable homes, will soon be moving in.
Working closely with Oxford City Council we are providing 14 social rent homes and will make a further 11 homes available under a shared ownership scheme. The new homes will be a combination of one, two and three bed flats set in adjacent three-storey apartment blocks.
Our Head of Development, Peter Crouch, said: “Oxford is a hugely desirable location to live, work and study in so it is vital that we are providing additional affordable housing in the city.
“Our new homes in Littlemore are available both for social rent and shared ownership therefore catering to a variety of housing requirements. The new residents will be in easy reach of transport links in addition to having amenities within walking distance.”
Councillor Alex Hollingsworth, Oxford City Council cabinet member for planning and housing delivery, said: “Providing more affordable homes is one of our top priorities and we work with partners like GreenSquareAccord to help us deliver these. Oxford needs more affordable homes.
“The cost of housing plays a big part in entrenching inequality in Oxford and each home for social rent makes a vital, life-changing difference to people’s lives. Shared ownership helps key workers onto the property ladder and means they can afford to live in a city they would otherwise be priced out of.”
The shared ownership apartments, which are reserved for key workers employed in the city of Oxford, are open plan with pre-installed ovens and ensuite bathrooms.
Residents in the new blocks, located just off the A4074 on Mogridge Drive, will have an allocated parking space, will be a short walk away from a large supermarket and be close to a bus route with regular services to Oxford city centre.
Councillor Tiago Corais, who represents Littlemore Ward, said “I would like to extend a warm welcome to the incoming residents and look forward to meeting them in due course. Littlemore has a great community spirit and is a lovely place to live but, like other parts of Oxford, we are in need of affordable homes. That is why I am delighted to see this new development in the ward I represent.”
The new development in Littlemore contains a number of features to promote sustainability including electric vehicle charging points, cycle storage and solar panels fitted to the roof.
