Colleagues at Sparkbrook Children’s Zone (SCZ) were delighted to receive a special delivery earlier this month.
Sparkbrook Children’s Zone, a pioneering integrated health and social care service funded by NHS England, and delivered in partnership with GSA, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and South Doc Services in a local Primary Care Network of nine GP surgeries, received a generous donation of 20 electric blankets and over 30 cuddly octopus toys.
The items were gifted by energy provider, Octopus Energy, and will now be distributed to vulnerable families supported by our Sparkbrook Children’s Zone colleagues.
Simarjeet Kaur, our Programme Manager at Sparkbrook Children’s Zone, said: “We are very grateful to Octopus Energy, who, for the second-year running, have generously donated electric blankets and cuddly toys.
“With the colder weather here and Christmas fast approaching, these gifts will bring an extra bit of comfort and joy to some of the families we work with.”
Sparkbrook Children’s Zone provide four clinics a week in Balsall Heath, Highgate, Sparkbrook, and Fernley Medical centres which are accessible for under 16s registered with a GP in the Balsall Heath, Moseley and Sparkhill PCN.
Since 2022, 1,494 families have received support from the medical staff within Sparkbrook Children’s Zone Clinics, and of this figure, 798 of them have also received Early Help support after their medical appointment.
