Homes for the West Midlands LLP appoints two firms to help deliver new affordable housing schemes
The Homes for the West Midlands Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), which we are part of, have appointed Lovell and Keon Homes to be their framework contractors on the first affordable housing developments they plan to deliver.
Homes for the West Midlands LLP, launched by West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker last month, is now working with the West Midlands Combined Authority on ways to accelerate delivery of the region’s affordable housing ambitions by identifying new opportunities and sites for the construction of homes that are genuinely affordable for local people.
Stuart Penn, regional managing director at Lovell, said: “The Homes for the West Midlands LLP is a fantastic example of how strategic partnerships are driving forward regional housing ambitions. We’ve got a strong relationship with the West Midlands Combined Authority and have delivered several schemes together, alongside housing associations, to ensure high-quality, efficient housing is available where people want to live.
“Being appointed to deliver the first affordable homes under the partnership shows our commitment to the public sector and to tackling the West Midlands’ housing crisis, together.”
The Homes for the West Midlands LLP is comprised of five leading Midlands-based housing associations - Bromford, Citizen Housing, GreenSquareAccord, Midland Heart, and whg with the day-to-day business of the LLP managed by Integer Advisory Ltd.
Speaking on behalf of the LLP, Ruth Cooke our Chief Executive said: “We are delighted to confirm that we have appointed two firms based in the West Midlands as framework contractors. We are looking forward to working closely with Lovell and Keon Homes to help deliver the affordable housing our region desperately needs.
The partnership’s first development, on a derelict industrial site in the Black Country, will be unveiled in early 2025. Preparation work, in close collaboration with the local council, is already underway for a 100% affordable housing scheme on the site.
It is intended to be the first of many schemes to be developed by the partnership in conjunction with local authorities and the wider public sector. The partnership will also explore the use of cutting-edge, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) capable of producing homes that are low carbon and highly energy efficient - helping to keep people’s fuel bills down.
As well as increasing the number of homes being built, the agreement also enables greater local input into the design and development of projects with a key priority of the LLP being the construction of homes that meet the specific housing needs of local people.
